Renting a bike in Rishikesh is the easiest way to explore the Himalayan foothills at your own pace — but before you ride off toward Neelkanth, Kunjapuri or the Char Dham highway, there’s one quick step: the paperwork. The good news is that it’s simple. Here’s exactly what you need to bring.
1. A valid driving licence (most important)
You must hold a valid two-wheeler driving licence. For a gearless scooty like the Honda Activa 125, a licence that permits gearless two-wheelers is enough. For a geared motorcycle like the Royal Enfield or Apache, you need a licence valid for motorcycles with gear (MC). Learner’s licences are not accepted.
Foreign tourists: carry an International Driving Permit (IDP) along with your home-country licence. An IDP that covers motorcycles is mandatory if you want to rent a geared bike.
2. Government photo ID proof
Bring one original government ID:
- Indian riders: original Driving Licence and Aadhaar card. Foreign riders: passport and an International Driving Permit (IDP).
We take a photocopy or scan for our records — your originals stay with you.
3. A security deposit
A small refundable security deposit is collected at pickup and returned in full when you bring the bike back in good condition. The deposit is a flat ₹1,000 per vehicle, the same for the Activa, the Apache and the Hunter. You can usually pay by UPI or cash.
4. A local contact number
We confirm every booking over WhatsApp, so an active mobile number helps us reach you for pickup, doorstep delivery (Rs.100 within the Nepali Farm / Shyampur area), or 24/7 support on the phone if you ever need it.
